Event begins: FRIDAY / MAY 23th, 2014 at 3:00 PM  Event ends: TUESDAY / MAY 27th, 2014 at Noon

Please note: All times (except arrival and departure times) are subject to change in response to the “flow” of the event

FRIDAY / May 23th, 2014:

3:00 PM    Gather together at Hotel Molokai and begin to your immersion into Old Style Hawaiian Music and Aloha Lifestyle.

4:00:   Aloha Friday at Hotel Molokai, where you will experience Na Mele O  Kupuna. These are local musicians who play together weekly at this Molokai landmark. You will be invited to play along with them.

6:00:    Drive to Pu’u O Hoku Ranch

7:00:    Settle into Lodge and Rooms

7:30:     Dinner

8:00:    Orientationa and photographs of Molokai  

8:30:     Fireside Stories and Music 

10:00:  Sweet Dreams.

 

SATURDAY / May 24th:

6:00 AM: Sunrise drive to Halawa Valley

8:00:   Breakfast in the Lodge

9:00:   Beginning Class  - Introductions and aspirations of participants. Lono’s inspiration for the workshop is connecting Old Style music with you and your Ukulele by playing traditional songs of Molokai, his original compositons, traditional Chants and Hulas of Molokai.

12:00   Lunch

1:00 PM  Free Time

1:30:   Hikes nad Tours of Pu’u O Hoku Ranch 

4:30:   Free Time or Drive to Halawa Valley Twin Beaches

5:30:   Gather together with music

6:00:   Dinner in the Lodge

7:30:    Lono and Hui O Mele Nei performance of the history of Molokai through story, hula and music

10:00:  Sweet Dreams 

 

SUNDAY/ MAY 25th

6:00 AM: Sunrise drive to Halawa Valley  

8:00:  Breakfast in the Lodge 

9:00:  Ukulele Music, Chant and Hula Classes

12:00: Lunch  

1:15 PM   Experience Molokai’s cultural herititage at a few of its historical sites.

5:00:   Free time

6:00:   Dinner in the Lodge

7:30:   Kanikapila and Mele Nei

10:00: Sweet Dreams


MONDAY / MAY 26th:

6:00 AM: Sunrise Drive to Halawa Valley

8:00:  Breakfast in the Lodge.

9:00:  Ukulele and Hula classes

12:00: Lunch and optional Hike to Waterfall

1:00 PM This is your afternoon to fall in love with your ukulele and the music you make together, as you compose a song to share. Lono and Mele Nei will be available to encourage your creativity.

5:30:   Gather with music 

6:00:  Dinner in the Lodge.

7:30:   Last evening Kanikapila and Mele Nei

10:00: Sweet Dreams

 

TUESDAY May 27th:

6:00 AM: Sunrise drive to Halawa Valley

8:00:    Breakfast in the Lodge

9:00:   Musical Farewell & Appreciation Circle

10:00:  Vans depart for airport and Noon flights. 

12:00:   Workshop ends
